A: Size is the biggest difference... Jumbo are much bigger than Runners.  Jumbos are usually used in roasting. Runners are a little sweeter and traditionally used in peanut butter and candy.

Q: Is one preferred over the other for boiling?

A:  They both work well. But, most of our locals like the smaller slightly sweeter runners.
